PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS issued an official apology after players discovered that the Guaranteed Set Imprint system text had appeared incorrectly on the PUBG x NewJeans Prime Parcel. This text should have been limited to the PUBG x NewJeans Loot Cache. The probability data itself did not change, so the actual item outcomes were not affected. However, the misleading display caused a wave of confusion and frustration among the community.

The error occurred while the development team was trying to reposition and explain the Guaranteed Set Imprint system within the existing Workshop interface. The original message stated that a Set Imprint would be guaranteed after four consecutive openings without one. The revised message clarified that a Set Imprint would be guaranteed on the fifth open attempt after four openings without one, with the standard indicated at the time of purchase. During that process, the text was accidentally shown on the Prime Parcel item, where it should not have appeared. The issue was corrected on June 12 at 18:11 UTC.

The team also acknowledged a separate communication failure. Notices were not published simultaneously across all regions, which meant players in different areas received the information at different times. This sequential rollout added to the confusion and made many players feel their perspective had not been properly considered.

🧾 Eligibility and Application Window

The compensation recipients were determined based on the announcement time of the last issued region. Initially, the eligibility period ended on Wednesday, June 12 at 19:00 UTC, but it was extended to Thursday, June 13 at 13:30 UTC. Players who purchased the following items between the end of the #30.1 live server maintenance on June 12 and the final notice on June 13 at 13:30 UTC became eligible.

  • PUBG x NewJeans Loot Cache Step 1 Set

  • PUBG x NewJeans Loot Cache Step 2 Set

  • PUBG x NewJeans Loot Cache Step 3 Set

  • PUBG x NewJeans Loot Cache Step 4 Set

  • PUBG x NewJeans Loot Cache Pack (x1)

  • PUBG x NewJeans Loot Cache Pack (x11)

  • PUBG x NewJeans Loot Cache Pack (x27)

  • PUBG x NewJeans Loot Cache Pack (x55)

The in-game refund and compensation system was updated on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at 02:00 UTC. Eligible players could select their preferred option until Friday, August 2, 2024, at 02:00 UTC.

💰 Compensation Options

After entering the lobby, eligible recipients saw a pop-up for the refund or compensation application. G-COIN and item purchases from the Store were temporarily unavailable until the submission was completed. Players who did not select an option within the designated period were automatically enrolled in the G-COIN compensation option.

G-COIN Compensation

This option returned 100% of the G-COIN spent on the eligible PUBG x NewJeans items during the eligibility period. The previous plan had offered 3,000 G-COIN for the first five Prime Parcel openings and 600 G-COIN for each additional opening, but the final plan was much broader. It covered all G-COIN used on Step Up Sets and Loot Cache Packs. The bonus G-COIN distributed through this compensation option was not eligible for Steam Wallet refunds and carried the same expiration dates as G-COIN purchased from the Store.

G-COIN Refund and Inventory Reset

Players who requested a refund had all items purchased with G-COIN from the end of the #30.1 update maintenance until the time of the refund application refunded in G-COIN. The inventory was reset to the state of the player's first login after the June 12, 2024 update.

For example, if a player purchased a PUBG x NewJeans Loot Cache Pack (x1) for 250 G-COIN on June 12 and then opened a Contraband Crate for 200 G-COIN on June 19, obtaining the [Progressive] Rest in Pink - Dragunov skin, both the pack and the progressive skin would be retrieved. The player would receive 450 G-COIN in return.

All inventory actions executed after the June 12 maintenance until the time of refund application were reset, including item purchases, event and pass rewards, and progressive weapon skins. Progress for the PUBG x NewJeans Step Up Package was also reset so it could be repurchased. Players who completed the G-COIN refund process received 30 Contraband Coupons.

⚠️ Important Rules

The choice could not be changed after selection, and no support could be provided for incorrect applications. Each eligible player could apply only once, and no further applications could be submitted after the process was completed. If the number of requests increased significantly after the system update, processing times could be extended.

The inventory reset approach was used because it was not technically possible to retrieve only the PUBG x NewJeans Loot Cache items. Tokens obtained within the eligibility period could have been combined with tokens obtained afterward, making targeted retrieval difficult. If G-COIN was used to purchase both NewJeans Loot Cache items and Contraband Crates, refunding only part of the G-COIN was not possible without resetting all of it.

💳 Third-Party and Steam Wallet Refunds

Players who purchased G-COIN codes from third-party platforms such as Heybox, Shunwang, or Xsolla could only receive refunds in G-COIN. Cash refunds followed the sales policies of the third-party platform, and players were advised to contact the relevant customer support for cash refund requests. Steam Wallet refunds could be requested at any time during the refund application period, regardless of deadlines. For reimbursement of platform currency for purchased G-COIN, players were directed to contact PUBG Customer Support.

The PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS team closed the announcement by apologizing again for the series of service issues and promising to conduct comprehensive verification at all stages, from planning onward, to prevent similar problems in the future.
